What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the onset and progression of axial spondylitis by including newly diagnosed, treatment-naive patients. Participants will be followed for two years, during which clinical data, questionnaires, and biological samples (blood and urine) will be collected. The focus is on understanding the role of prostaglandins and other substances in the disease to improve treatment and potentially prevent its onset. The study seeks to identify biomarkers that could lead to more personalized therapies for axial spondylitis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are newly diagnosed, treatment-naive adults aged 18 and older who speak Swedish.
Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing DMARD treatment, those with ongoing infections, or malignancies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment strategies and prevention methods for patients with axial spondylitis.
How similar studies have performed: While the study focuses on a common condition, the specific approach of investigating prostaglandin roles in axial spondylitis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar studies.
