What this trial studies
This study focuses on the mental health challenges faced by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), particularly those related to posttraumatic stress injuries (PTSI). It aims to build evidence-based solutions by examining various risk and resilience factors that contribute to mental health outcomes. The study will involve cadets starting the RCMP Cadet Training Program and will utilize interventions such as Emotional Resilience Skills Training (ERST) and Active Monitoring to assess their effectiveness. By addressing the limitations of previous research, this prospective investigation seeks to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the psychological impacts of operational stress on public safety personnel.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are cadets beginning the RCMP Cadet Training Program.
Not a fit: Patients who are not cadets starting the RCMP Cadet Training Program will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved mental health support and interventions for RCMP members and other public safety personnel.
How similar studies have performed: While previous studies have explored similar themes, this investigation aims to address gaps in the existing literature and is designed to provide more robust findings.
