Investigating physical activity and outcomes in patients with polyneuropathy
Polyneuropathy, Impairments and Physical Activity - The PolyImPAct Study

What this trial studies
This project aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of various outcome measures related to muscle strength, functioning, and physical activity in patients diagnosed with different types of polyneuropathy. The study will involve 400 adult patients with conditions such as Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth, alongside 120 healthy controls. Researchers will assess clinical outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, and physical activity data collected via accelerometers over four phases. The goal is to compare these measures between patients and healthy individuals to better understand the impact of polyneuropathy on daily functioning.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults over 18 years diagnosed with various forms of polyneuropathy.
Not a fit: Patients without a verified diagnosis of polyneuropathy or those with other significant health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved assessment tools and interventions for patients with polyneuropathy, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored physical activity in neuropathy, this specific approach focusing on the validity of outcome measures is relatively novel.
