What this trial studies

This observational study aims to explore the relationship between pain sensitization and diagnostic parameters in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). It will assess whether ultrasonographic and nerve conduction studies can determine threshold values in patients experiencing pain sensitization. The study will also evaluate correlations between pressure pain threshold values and central sensitization inventory scores with the results of these diagnostic tests. By understanding these relationships, the study seeks to enhance the diagnostic approach for CTS.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome based on clinical and electrodiagnostic findings.

Not a fit: Patients with concomitant conditions such as diabetes, systemic inflammatory diseases, or those who have undergone surgery for CTS may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the diagnostic accuracy and treatment strategies for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using ultrasound and nerve conduction studies in CTS is established, the specific focus on pain sensitization in this context is relatively novel.
