What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on children diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) at Sohag University Hospital, aiming to assess the prevalence and types of neuropsychiatric disorders associated with the condition. The study will include children who meet the diagnostic criteria for SLE and will exclude those with other rheumatological or neuropsychiatric disorders. By evaluating neurological involvement in these patients, the research seeks to enhance understanding of the neuropsychiatric manifestations of SLE and their underlying mechanisms.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus attending the pediatric rheumatology and immunology clinic at Sohag University Hospital.
Not a fit: Patients with other rheumatological or neuropsychiatric disorders not attributed to SLE will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and management of neuropsychiatric disorders in children with lupus.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on neuropsychiatric manifestations in SLE exist, this specific observational approach focusing on children at a single institution is relatively novel.
