What this trial studies

This observational cohort study aims to evaluate and identify novel biomarkers associated with colorectal cancer progression. Patients with colorectal cancer will be prospectively recruited for biomarker evaluation, focusing on the role of microRNAs and their targets. The study will take place at a single center, the University Hospital Southampton, and will involve detailed molecular pathology assessments to enhance understanding of the disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Not a fit: Patients with hereditary colorectal cancer or tumors exhibiting extensive necrosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the discovery of new biomarkers that improve diagnosis and treatment strategies for colorectal cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies investigating molecular profiles and biomarkers in colorectal cancer have shown promise, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
