What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates young adults aged 18-35 to explore the relationship between daily smartphone usage and various physical parameters such as neck muscle endurance, grip strength, and head posture. Participants will be categorized based on their average daily phone usage, specifically comparing those who use their phones for more than 5 hours to those who use them for 5 hours or less. The study will utilize screen time tracking features on smartphones to gather data on usage and will assess physical parameters through specific tests and photographic analysis of head posture.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are young adults aged 18-35 who use smartphones with IOS 12 or Android 9 and above.

Not a fit: Patients with recent orthopedic surgery, neck pain, or conditions affecting neuromuscular function may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how smartphone usage impacts physical health, potentially guiding recommendations for healthier phone habits.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research into the effects of smartphone use on physical health, this specific investigation into neck endurance and posture is relatively novel.
