What this trial studies

This observational study examines the impact of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) on voice quality. Participants over the age of 18 will provide voice samples and complete questionnaires while undergoing standard reflux diagnostics. The study aims to identify typical voice changes associated with reflux conditions, which may help in understanding the relationship between reflux and vocal health.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 who are undergoing diagnostic evaluation for gastroesophageal reflux.

Not a fit: Patients with prior laryngopharyngeal surgery or those with diseases that alter voice quality may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and management of voice-related issues in patients suffering from reflux diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on reflux and voice changes, this study aims to provide specific insights into vocal biomarkers, making it a novel approach.
