What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the increasing incidence of thyroid cancer and the potential role of environmental risk factors in its etiology and progression. By utilizing exposomics, the study will analyze health-relevant chemical exposures and their metabolic impacts on individuals diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Participants will include adults aged 18 and older who have been categorized as Bethesda III, IV, V, or VI following Fine Needle Aspiration. The study will also collect data and samples from benign tumor patients for future research.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with a Bethesda category III, IV, V, or VI thyroid nodule.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of thyroid cancer or those who are not surgical candidates will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of environmental influences on thyroid cancer, potentially leading to improved prevention strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of studying environmental factors in thyroid cancer is gaining interest, this specific exposomics methodology is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar studies.
