What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the impact of climatic and environmental factors on respiratory and allergic diseases among migratory older adults and children in Sanya, Hainan Province. It will recruit participants through cluster sampling from local hospitals and collect climate data from relevant meteorological and environmental authorities. The study will analyze the prevalence and risk factors of conditions like asthma and allergic rhinitis, providing insights for public health strategies and tourism health promotion. Additionally, it will retrospectively assess the influence of these factors on children's health over the past decade.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include migratory individuals aged 50-80 with asthma, allergic rhinitis, COPD, or atopic dermatitis, as well as children aged 3-12 living in Sanya.
Not a fit: Patients with other significant respiratory diseases, such as lung cancer or tuberculosis, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of respiratory diseases influenced by environmental factors, benefiting affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on climate's impact on health exist, this specific approach focusing on a tropical environment and its effects on respiratory diseases is relatively novel.
