What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between changes in atmospheric pressure and blood pressure, specifically focusing on their potential impact on the occurrence of epistaxis (nosebleeds). Conducted over six months at the Emergency Department of Ankara Etlik City Hospital, the study will monitor patients presenting with epistaxis, collecting data on their vital signs, coagulation parameters, and hemoglobin levels. The goal is to determine if weather-related changes could inform treatment adjustments for hypertensive patients to prevent emergencies and improve comfort. The study is purely observational and poses no risk to participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and above who present to the emergency department with complaints of epistaxis.
Not a fit: Patients under 18, pregnant individuals, or those with a history of maxillofacial surgery or trauma at the time of admission may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for patients prone to nosebleeds, particularly those with hypertension.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and may not have been extensively tested, it builds on existing knowledge of environmental factors affecting health, suggesting potential for meaningful insights.
