Investigating causes of death in kidney transplant patients
Causes of Mortality in Kidney Transplant Recipients, a Paradigm Shift

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to analyze the causes of mortality among kidney transplant recipients by utilizing two large transplantation databases from France. It seeks to identify risk factors associated with mortality and to explore potential shifts in the hierarchy of causes of death, particularly the rising significance of infectious and cancer-related deaths compared to traditional cardiovascular causes. The study will include adult patients who underwent kidney transplantation between 2008 and 2014, focusing on their health outcomes and related data.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who received a kidney transplant or related procedures between 2008 and 2014.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone double organ transplants involving the heart, liver, or lungs during the same operation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights that may improve post-transplant care and outcomes for kidney transplant patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on mortality causes in kidney transplant patients, this research aims to address a potentially novel shift in mortality trends, making it a significant exploration in the field.
