What this trial studies

This observational study aims to analyze the spectrum of malignant neoplasms in infants based on the experience of the South Egypt Cancer Institute, the largest referral center in Upper Egypt. It involves a retrospective review of medical records from January 2001 to December 2015, focusing on infants diagnosed with various malignant tumors. The study will evaluate the clinical and pathological features of these cancers, treatment modalities, and patient outcomes to better understand the unique characteristics of infantile cancers compared to those in older children.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are infants aged one year or younger diagnosed with malignant neoplasms.

Not a fit: Patients older than one year will not benefit from this study as they do not meet the age criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of infant cancers, leading to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on childhood cancers exist, this specific focus on infantile neoplasms in a regional context is relatively novel.
