What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between thrombophilia and thrombosis in patients diagnosed with Behçet's disease. It will involve 100 patients aged 18-70 who meet the international diagnostic criteria for Behçet's disease, alongside 100 healthy controls matched by age and gender. Participants will undergo routine clinical evaluations, and blood samples will be collected for genetic analysis to identify specific thrombophilia-related genetic markers. The study will take place at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine Dermatology outpatient clinic from June 2023 to September 2024.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-70 diagnosed with Behçet's disease according to established criteria.
Not a fit: Patients under 18, those with other inflammatory skin diseases, or those on anticoagulant medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of thrombotic risks in Behçet's disease, potentially leading to better management strategies for affected patients.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on thrombosis in Behçet's disease exist, this specific approach focusing on genetic markers in a controlled setting is relatively novel.
