Investigating blood cell indices as inflammation markers in ankylosing spondylitis
Platelet and Red Blood Cell Volume Indices as Inflammatory Biomarkers in Ankylosing Spodylitis
This study is testing if certain blood cell measurements can help show how much inflammation is present in people with ankylosing spondylitis.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationships between various blood cell indices, including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), red cell volume, and platelet volume in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. By analyzing these indices, the study seeks to identify potential biomarkers that could indicate inflammation levels in this condition. Participants will undergo a complete blood count (CBC) to gather necessary data for analysis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis for more than six months.
Not a fit: Patients with cardiac, cerebrovascular, hematologic diseases, hypertension, diabetes, metabolic syndromes, or other autoimmune rheumatic diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide new insights into inflammatory biomarkers that may improve the management of ankylosing spondylitis.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is relatively novel, similar studies exploring blood indices as biomarkers in other inflammatory conditions have shown promising results.
