What this trial studies
This study aims to determine if a smartphone app combined with internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) can improve depressive symptoms in adults who are already on antidepressant medication. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a treatment group, which will use the app and receive therapist support for 9 weeks, or a wait-list control group. The app incorporates CBT principles and includes a serious mobile game, along with access to additional treatment materials online. The effectiveness will be measured using the MADRAS scale for depressive symptoms, along with assessments of anxiety and quality of life at various intervals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are currently taking antidepressant medication and experiencing ongoing depressive symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric issues, acute suicidality, or those receiving other psychological treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide an innovative and accessible way to enhance treatment outcomes for patients with depression.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using digital interventions for depression, suggesting this approach could be effective.
