What this trial studies

This observational study aims to gather insights from patients who have had near death experiences while receiving intensive care in the hematology ward at Seoul National University Hospital. The study will involve interviewing adult patients who have recovered from critical medical situations such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, or other life-threatening conditions. By documenting these experiences, the study seeks to understand the psychological and emotional aspects of near death experiences in a clinical context.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 19 and older who have been admitted to the hematology ward and have recovered from critical medical interventions.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to participate due to insufficient recovery from their medical conditions will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of near death experiences and their implications for patient care and psychological support.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been anecdotal reports and smaller studies on near death experiences, this specific observational approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
