What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates an internet-delivered psychological treatment called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (IACT) for adults with chronic pain. Participants will undergo a 7-week treatment program with therapist support, during which their expectations and experiences will be assessed through interviews conducted before, during, and after the treatment. The study aims to understand how well IACT meets the needs of chronic pain patients and to identify any barriers to its effectiveness. By focusing on patient experiences, the research seeks to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of psychological treatments for chronic pain.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults with chronic pain who can understand Swedish and have internet access.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive problems or severe mental illnesses, such as a psychotic episode, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a more accessible and effective psychological treatment option for individuals suffering from chronic pain.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for internet-delivered psychological treatments in managing chronic pain, although research specifically on patient expectations with IACT is limited.
