What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of an internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) program called CoolMinds for adolescents aged 12 to 17 diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the iCBT intervention with varying levels of therapist support or be placed on a waitlist. Over 14 weeks, the adolescents will complete questionnaires assessing their mental health before and after the treatment to measure changes in anxiety symptoms. The study aims to address barriers to traditional therapy by providing a more accessible treatment option.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 12 to 17 with a principal anxiety diagnosis according to DSM-5 criteria who can read and write Danish.
Not a fit: Patients with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, psychotic symptoms, bipolar disorder, current suicidal ideation, substance abuse, or those who have received CBT in the past year may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce anxiety symptoms in adolescents, improving their overall mental health and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy, indicating potential success for this approach.
