What this trial studies
The FBRI VTC Neuromotor Research Clinic offers intensive therapeutic services for children with motor impairments due to neuromotor disorders. Utilizing ACQUIREc Therapy, a specialized form of constraint-induced movement therapy, the clinic focuses on enhancing motor skills in children with asymmetric abilities. This approach involves constraining the less impaired limb while providing targeted therapy to the more impaired limb, delivered by trained occupational or physical therapists. The therapy sessions are significantly longer than traditional therapy, aiming to maximize functional improvements.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children diagnosed with neuromotor impairments such as cerebral palsy, microcephaly, or autism.
Not a fit: Patients with fragile health may not benefit from this intensive therapeutic approach.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve motor function and quality of life for children with neuromotor impairments.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies utilizing constraint-induced movement therapy have shown promising results, indicating that this approach may be effective for similar conditions.
