What this trial studies

This observational study aims to establish an in-hospital Trauma Registry at the Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Matteo to collect data on patients who are victims of major trauma. The registry will serve as a comprehensive tool for analyzing and monitoring clinical activities within a Level I Trauma Center. By leveraging recent advancements in clinical care pathways and the opening of a dedicated helipad, the initiative seeks to enhance both short-term and long-term clinical and scientific outcomes for trauma patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients presenting to the Emergency Department with severe trauma, either transported by emergency services or admitted with a high Injury Severity Score.

Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the criteria for severe trauma or those who are not treated at the Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Matteo may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could improve the management and outcomes of patients suffering from severe trauma.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing trauma registries have shown success in improving patient outcomes and clinical practices, indicating that this approach is well-supported by existing evidence.
