What this trial studies
This research aims to develop an intervention that enhances the assessment and care of sexual health needs for men with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The study involves three workstreams: surveying current practices in NHS Trusts, gathering insights from men with IBD and their partners through interviews, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to create a supportive framework. By addressing the neglected area of men's sexual health in IBD, the study seeks to improve overall quality of life and relationship satisfaction for affected individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include men diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, or IBD-U, as well as their partners and healthcare professionals involved in IBD care.
Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as male or those without a diagnosis of IBD will likely not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the sexual health and well-being of men living with IBD.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting men's sexual health in IBD, similar studies addressing sexual health in chronic conditions have shown promising results.
