What this trial studies
This intervention aims to enhance safe communication about suicide among young people aged 16-25 in the Netherlands through the #Chatsafe guidelines and a tailored social media campaign. The study will compare the effects of the #ChatsafeNL intervention on how young people communicate about suicide online, using a randomized controlled trial design. Participants will be recruited from social media users in the Netherlands, and their responses will be monitored to assess the impact of the intervention on their communication behaviors. The campaign is designed to be culturally relevant and is based on previous successful feasibility studies conducted in Australia.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are young people aged 16-25 who are active social media users and reside in the Netherlands.
Not a fit: Patients who do not actively use social media or are outside the age range of 16-25 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the way young people communicate about suicide on social media, potentially reducing the risk of suicidal behavior.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies, particularly a small-scale feasibility study in Australia, have shown promising results for similar interventions, indicating potential for success in this context.
