What this trial studies

The intervention embeds Clinical Trials Navigators (CTNs) and an associated educational program into cancer centres and rolls them out sequentially to twenty sites over a 12-month period. Each centre will add an embedded CTN and report referral and enrollment metrics, with centres serving as their own baseline before the CTN is introduced. The primary outcome is an increase in trial referral/enrollment rates measured from centre accrual reports and referral logs. The approach is an implementation rollout building on a Windsor pilot that demonstrated an 8% accrual increase.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people living with cancer who receive care at participating Canadian cancer centres and are open to considering clinical trial participation.

Not a fit: Patients cared for outside participating centres or those who do not want to consider clinical trials are unlikely to benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, more patients could be matched to suitable clinical trials, increasing access to new treatment options and potentially improving outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: A Windsor pilot of the CTN program increased accrual by about 8%, indicating prior local success though wider national implementation remains to be tested.
