What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions in enhancing medication management skills for individuals with Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), and Glaucoma. Participants will receive personalized education on strategies such as additional task lighting, enhanced contrast, enlarged print instructions, and the use of smart apps to improve their ability to manage medications. The study will utilize assessment tools to identify individual needs and measure the impact of the interventions over a four-week follow-up period. The goal is to reduce errors in medication management and improve the functional use of remaining vision.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, or Glaucoma who are willing to participate in occupational therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with other age-related eye diseases not specified in the inclusion criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly enhance the ability of patients with vision loss to manage their medications effectively.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative in its specific focus on medication management for low vision patients, similar occupational therapy interventions have shown promise in improving daily living skills in other contexts.
