What this trial studies
This study evaluates the combined effects of exergaming and resistance training on frailty among nursing home residents. Frailty, a common geriatric condition, increases vulnerability to adverse health outcomes, and is often exacerbated by factors like sarcopenia and cognitive impairment. Participants will engage in structured exercise programs designed to enhance muscle strength, mobility, and cognitive function. The study aims to determine if these interventions can significantly improve the overall health and well-being of frail elderly individuals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nursing home residents who meet at least one of the Fried Criteria for frailty and have a satisfactory cognitive assessment score.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to walk independently or have significant medical conditions that hinder participation will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved physical and cognitive health outcomes for nursing home residents suffering from frailty.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with resistance training in older adults, suggesting that this combined approach may also be effective.
