What this trial studies

This pilot randomized controlled trial aims to assess the efficacy and feasibility of the Family Media Check-In (FMC) intervention for families with children aged 11-17. A total of 150 families will be randomly assigned to either the FMC intervention or a control group that receives the intervention after a delay. Families in the intervention group will complete the FMC within two weeks and provide feedback through follow-up surveys to evaluate changes in screen media practices. The study incorporates insights from prior focus groups and usability testing to ensure the intervention meets family needs.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are families with children aged 11-17 who are English-speaking and willing to participate.

Not a fit: Families where either the parent/guardian or child is not interested in participating will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance family decision-making regarding screen media use, leading to healthier media habits among adolescents.
