What this trial studies
The project trains 150 Georgia Early Intervention (EI) providers in one of two Project ImPACT training models to compare how well each approach is implemented within routine EI services. Researchers will measure implementation process and quality, factors that influence delivery, and preliminary child social-communication and parent empowerment outcomes. Caregivers whose providers deliver Project ImPACT can opt to complete surveys before and after the program plus an exit interview, or a single confidential post-program survey, with all research activities conducted at the Marcus Autism Center. Because the training is embedded in standard EI professional development, the focus is on real-world implementation and adaptation rather than testing a new clinical therapy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are English-speaking caregivers of children under 36 months who are enrolled in Georgia's Early Intervention program and are seen by a provider participating in Project ImPACT training.
Not a fit: Children not enrolled in Georgia's EI system, older than 36 months, served by providers not using Project ImPACT, or families who do not speak English are unlikely to benefit from this project.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the project could help EI providers deliver Project ImPACT more effectively, improving young children's social communication and parents' confidence in supporting them.
How similar studies have performed: Project ImPACT is an evidence-based, parent-mediated intervention with prior studies showing benefits for child social communication, but its large-scale implementation within state EI systems is less well tested.
