What this trial studies

This observational study aims to address barriers to achieving treatment goals for cardiometabolic disorders among people living with HIV (PLWH) in the Southeastern United States. It consists of three main aims: first, to identify social determinants and barriers affecting cardiometabolic health through in-depth interviews and photo elicitation; second, to assess the knowledge, skills, and confidence of PLWH in managing their conditions; and third, to tailor a self-management support and education intervention based on stakeholder input. The study will involve participants aged 35 and older with at least one cardiometabolic disorder and will utilize a human-centered design approach to develop effective interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people living with HIV aged 35 and older who have hypertension, dyslipidemia, or type 2 diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients who do not understand English or are blind may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved self-management and health outcomes for PLWH with cardiometabolic disorders.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using tailored interventions for chronic disease management, suggesting potential for this approach.
