What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a telematic educational program aimed at optimizing antibiotic prescriptions in primary care settings. It involves structured interviews between infectious disease experts and family medicine and pediatric specialists, focusing on real cases and analyzing prescriptions. The goal is to enhance the quality of antibiotic use, reduce consumption, improve microbiological testing, and decrease the incidence of community-acquired infections caused by resistant microorganisms. The trial is designed as a cluster randomized study to ensure robust results and minimize bias.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are primary care centers within the reference area of the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío.

Not a fit: Patients in emergency departments or dental offices may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to safer antibiotic prescribing practices and reduced rates of antibiotic resistance in the community.

How similar studies have performed: Previous quasi-experimental studies have shown favorable outcomes for similar educational interventions, but this is the first clinical trial specifically assessing their efficacy.
