What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of different interventions aimed at reducing sedentary behavior among emergency medical dispatchers and firefighters. Participants will engage in a three-day assessment where their normal workday will be compared to days where they use a sit-and-stand desk or a cycloergometer. Various health metrics, including heart rate variability, electrodermal activity, physical activity levels, and blood sugar, will be continuously monitored. Additionally, participants will complete questionnaires to assess psychosocial factors and specific work-related stressors.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are emergency medical dispatchers and firefighters who can provide informed consent and are affiliated with a health insurance scheme.

Not a fit: Patients who are non-affiliated with health insurance or fall under protected categories such as minors or pregnant women may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved health outcomes and reduced occupational stress for emergency responders.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar interventions aimed at reducing sedentary behavior in occupational settings.
