What this trial studies
This research aims to assess how the removal of flavor descriptors from little cigar and cigarillo packaging affects attention and emotional responses to health warnings. Using eye tracking, electrodermal activity, and surveys, the study will compare participant reactions to different warning types, including pictorial and text-only warnings, alongside variations in flavor descriptors. The study addresses the rising use of little cigars and cigarillos and the need for effective warning labels to reduce tobacco-related health risks.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 21 who are current users of little cigars and cigarillos and can attend appointments in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.
Not a fit: Patients who do not use little cigars and cigarillos or have eye conditions that prevent eye tracking may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective warning labels that reduce tobacco use and associated health risks.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on cigarette warning labels, this study's focus on little cigars and cigarillos is relatively novel and untested.
