Impact of sperm oxidative stress on pregnancy success during IUI and IVF
Impact of Sperm Oxidative Stress on Embryonic Parameters and Pregnancy Success During Intrauterine Insemination and in Vitro Fertilization
This study is testing if high levels of oxidative stress in sperm affect the chances of getting pregnant through IUI and IVF for men aged 18 to 40.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the relationship between oxidative stress levels in sperm and the success rates of intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF). The researchers will analyze sperm samples from men aged 18 to 40 with confirmed paternity and assess how oxidative stress correlates with semen parameters, DNA fragmentation, and fertilization rates. The study aims to determine if higher oxidative stress negatively impacts pregnancy outcomes in assisted reproductive technologies. Participants will be recruited from the Fertilys Reproductive Health Center in Laval, Quebec.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men aged 18 to 40 who are undergoing their first cycle of IUI or IVF.
Not a fit: Patients outside the age range of 18 to 40, those unable to produce a sperm sample, or couples using gamete donation will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into improving fertility treatments by addressing oxidative stress in sperm.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on oxidative stress and fertility, this study's specific focus on its impact during IUI and IVF is relatively novel.
