Impact of reading lamp color temperature on myopia development in children
Effect of Colour Temperature of Reading Lamp on Refractive Error Development

What this trial studies
This longitudinal randomized controlled trial aims to assess how different color temperatures of reading lamps affect the development of refractive errors, particularly myopia, in school-aged children over a 12-month period. Participants aged 4 to 18 will be randomly assigned to use reading lamps with color temperatures of 3000K, 4500K, or 6500K. The study will measure changes in refractive error and axial length to determine the impact of lighting conditions on myopia progression.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are school-aged children between 4 and 18 years old who have not received any prior myopia control interventions.
Not a fit: Patients who have already undergone myopia control interventions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective lighting strategies to mitigate the development of myopia in children.
How similar studies have performed: While the relationship between lighting and myopia is being explored, this specific approach to evaluating color temperature effects is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
