Impact of exercise on health and frailty in older adults living in rural areas
Effects of Face-to-face and Video-assisted Physical Exercise Sessions on Frailty, Mental and Physical Health of Older Adults in Rural Areas.
This study tests if a mix of in-person and video exercise programs can help older adults living in rural areas feel better physically and mentally while reducing frailty.

What this trial studies
This project evaluates how a combination of face-to-face and video-assisted physical exercise interventions can improve mental health, physical function, and frailty among individuals aged 65 and older in rural areas. The study focuses on multi-component exercise programs that incorporate motivational strategies to enhance adherence and effectiveness. By addressing the unique characteristics of older adults in rural settings, this research aims to fill a gap in existing literature that primarily targets urban populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 65 and older who can walk autonomously and have a score of 4 or more on the Short Physical Performance Battery.
Not a fit: Patients with severe health conditions that contraindicate physical exercise, such as recent heart attacks or uncontrolled hypertension, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the health and quality of life for older adults in rural areas.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research focused specifically on rural older adults, similar studies in urban settings have shown positive outcomes from exercise interventions.
