What this trial studies
This study assesses how a community-based exercise and dietary intervention affects pregnant women living in urban areas, focusing on reducing the risks of obesity and diabetes for both mothers and their children. Participants will engage in lifestyle changes during and after pregnancy, with the goal of improving overall pregnancy outcomes. The intervention includes education on exercise and diet tailored to the needs of pregnant women. The study aims to determine if these lifestyle modifications can lead to a decrease in excessive weight gain and related health issues.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women under 20 weeks gestation who are interested in participating and can provide consent.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing diabetes or significant obstetric or medical contraindications for exercise may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes in mothers and their offspring.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with lifestyle interventions in similar populations, indicating potential for success.
