What this trial studies
This study investigates how exposure to a mixture of chemical environmental pollutants affects the sleep patterns of infants under 6 months old. Using a combination of actimetry watches, sleep diaries, and environmental pollutant measurements in breast milk and indoor air, the research aims to assess the neurodevelopmental risks associated with these exposures. The study will track the sleep of infants over a week to gather data on their sleep quality and duration in relation to pollutant levels. This research is crucial as it addresses a vulnerable period in child development where sleep is essential for growth.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are infants under 6 months of age who are exclusively on a milk diet.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those with neurological or neurobehavioral disorders and families planning to relocate soon.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding of how environmental pollutants affect infant sleep and neurodevelopment, potentially guiding public health recommendations.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on environmental pollutants and child health exist, this specific focus on infant sleep and the combination of methodologies is relatively novel.
