What this trial studies
This observational study investigates how cataract surgery affects the corneal epithelium and ocular surface in patients with diabetes. It aims to understand the ocular surface alterations that occur in diabetic patients, who are at a higher risk for cataract development and subsequent surgical complications. The study will analyze data from adult patients who underwent cataract surgery at the University Hospital of Strasbourg between January 2022 and January 2024, focusing on pre- and post-operative evaluations of their ocular health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult diabetic patients who have undergone cataract surgery at the specified hospital during the study period.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic ocular surface alterations or those who have opposed the reuse of their data for research will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding of ocular complications in diabetic patients undergoing cataract surgery, leading to better management and outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is growing literature on ocular surface changes in diabetes, this specific focus on cataract surgery in diabetic patients is relatively novel.
