What this trial studies
This study evaluates different imaging methods for measuring diabetic foot ulcers during a single appointment. Participants will have their foot ulcers measured and photographed using various techniques, including smartphone and thermal cameras. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of these imaging methods in capturing ulcer size. Demographic data will also be collected from medical records to analyze potential correlations. The entire procedure is expected to take between 15 and 45 minutes, with no long-term follow-up required.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes who currently have a foot lesion.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments that prevent consent or those who are not fluent in English may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the accuracy of foot ulcer assessments, leading to better management and treatment for diabetic patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored imaging techniques for diabetic foot ulcers, but this specific approach is relatively novel.
