Imaging heart blood flow using a special PET scan
Myocardial Perfusion Imaging by 15O-H2O PET/CT: Reference Values and Prognostic Value
This study is testing a special PET scan to see how well it can measure blood flow in the hearts of people with known or suspected heart disease.

What this trial studies
This observational study will involve 5000 patients with known or suspected ischemic heart disease who are referred for myocardial perfusion imaging using 15O-H2O PET/CT scans at Aarhus University Hospital. The patients will undergo standard clinical scans at rest and during stress to assess myocardial blood flow. The data collected will help establish reference values for this imaging technique and will be followed up for up to 10 years to evaluate the prognostic significance of the scans in relation to major cardiovascular events.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with known or suspected ischemic heart disease who are referred for a clinical H2O-PET scan.
Not a fit: Patients with claustrophobia, severe asthma, or those younger than 18 years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the understanding of heart blood flow and its implications for patients with ischemic heart disease.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies using similar imaging techniques have shown promise in assessing myocardial perfusion and predicting cardiovascular events.
