What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on patients undergoing ventricular tachycardia ablation, a procedure aimed at treating serious heart rhythm disorders. It utilizes a pace-mapping technique to create 3D electro-anatomical maps of the heart, helping to identify the reentrant circuit responsible for ventricular tachycardia. By stimulating various sites within the heart, the study aims to pinpoint the areas that need to be ablated to restore normal heart rhythm. The data collected will enhance understanding of the underlying mechanisms of ventricular tachycardia in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy who have undergone ventricular tachycardia ablation and have sufficient electroanatomical data.
Not a fit: Patients with incomplete data, poor quality ECG recordings, or those without identified ventricular tachycardia isthmus during the procedure may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective and targeted treatments for patients with ventricular tachycardia, potentially reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar pace-mapping techniques have shown promise in identifying critical areas for ablation in ventricular tachycardia, suggesting a potential for success in this approach.
