What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify new genetic variants associated with cardiomyopathy by conducting whole exome sequencing on patients diagnosed with the condition. Patients were recruited from March 2003 to November 2017, and their genetic samples were compared with a paired control group. The study focuses on understanding the genetic basis of cardiomyopathy to improve prognosis and treatment options.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with cardiomyopathy as defined by the American Heart Association.

Not a fit: Patients with uncontrolled hypertension, significant valvular disease, or other specified exclusions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of cardiomyopathy through the identification of new genetic risk factors.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have successfully identified genetic variants related to cardiomyopathy, suggesting that this approach has potential for meaningful discoveries.
