Identifying biomarkers to predict chemotherapy response in gastric cancer

Postgenome-based Systemic Discovery of Strong Biomarkers Predict Gastric Cancer Chemotherapy Response

Observational Kyungpook National University Hospital · NCT03253107

What this trial studies

This study aims to discover and validate biomarkers that can predict how patients with gastric cancer will respond to chemotherapy. It involves analyzing the expression levels of mRNA and miRNA in gastric cancer tissues and blood samples using next-generation sequencing techniques. The study will also validate these findings through quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) across multiple independent cohorts. By combining biological biomarkers with clinical factors, the research seeks to develop a predictive model for chemotherapy response in gastric cancer patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are new gastric cancer patients who are scheduled to start their first cycle of chemotherapy.

Not a fit: Patients with other cancers or those who refuse to participate in the study may not receive any benefit from this research.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more personalized and effective chemotherapy treatments for gastric cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using biomarkers to predict chemotherapy responses in various cancers, suggesting that this approach may be effective for gastric cancer as well.
