What this trial studies
This observational effort aims to map health literacy profiles of people with type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes in Reunion Island and France. Participants recruited at the CHU de La Réunion will complete the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ) once to measure multiple domains of health literacy. Individuals with cognitive disorders, recent serious diabetic complications, stroke-related deficits, or certain secondary/rare diabetes types are excluded, and only patients able to follow study procedures will be enrolled. The resulting profiles are intended to inform improvements in information access, therapeutic education, and regional health service delivery for diabetic patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: People with type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes receiving care at the CHU de La Réunion who can consent and do not have cognitive impairment or recent serious complications are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive disorders, recent serious diabetic complications, stroke with lasting deficits, or rare/secondary diabetes types are unlikely to be eligible or to benefit from this questionnaire-based profiling.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help tailor education and information so people with diabetes find care and manage their condition more effectively.
How similar studies have performed: The Health Literacy Questionnaire is a validated tool and similar HLQ-based profiling studies have been used elsewhere to guide education programs, though direct effects on clinical outcomes have been variable.
