What this trial studies

This cross-sectional study will survey students in grades 9–12 at selected high schools in Kayseri and Samsun using a sociodemographic form and the 10-item Amsterdam Misophonia Scale-Revised (AMISOS-R). Students with hearing loss, chronic illnesses, severe psychological disorders, intellectual disability, illiteracy, or outside the defined age range will be excluded. Responses will be analyzed to estimate the prevalence and severity distribution of misophonia and to explore associations with demographic factors. The study follows standard ethical procedures and uses a validated self-report instrument.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Eligible participants are literate high school students in grades 9–12 at selected schools in Kayseri or Samsun who do not have diagnosed hearing loss, chronic illness, severe psychological disorder, or intellectual disability.

Not a fit: Students with diagnosed hearing loss, chronic illness, severe psychological disorders, intellectual disabilities, who are illiterate, or who are not enrolled in grades 9–12 are excluded and would not be represented by the results.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could show how many students are affected and help schools and local health services plan screening, education, and targeted support.

How similar studies have performed: Similar questionnaire-based prevalence studies using AMISOS-R or related scales have been conducted in adolescents and reported variable prevalence, so the method is established though results vary by population.
