Home exercise program delivered through a smartphone app to reduce fear of movement and improve fitness after a heart attack
Effect of Home-based Exercise Plan Mediated by Use of Digital Health App on Kinesiophobia and Functional Capacity in Sedentary Post Myocardial Infarction Patient.
This will test whether a home exercise program delivered through a digital health app helps sedentary patients three months after a heart attack reduce fear of movement (kinesiophobia) and improve functional capacity.

What this trial studies
Sedentary adults at least three months after a myocardial infarction will be enrolled and assigned to a home-based exercise plan delivered and monitored via a digital health application or to a control group receiving usual care. The app provides personalized exercise plans, real-time feedback, progress tracking, and motivational features to support adherence. Outcomes will include measures of kinesiophobia and functional capacity assessed before and after the intervention period. The approach aims to extend cardiac rehabilitation access for those unable to attend clinic-based programs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are sedentary adults at least three months post-myocardial infarction who sit more than eight hours a day and have low physical activity (IPAQ < 600 MET-minutes).
Not a fit: Patients with unstable angina, recurrent recent myocardial infarction, recent surgery or procedure, heart failure, arrhythmia, or those who are already regularly active may not receive benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could make cardiac rehabilitation easier to access and help reduce fear of movement while improving physical functioning for sedentary patients after a heart attack.
How similar studies have performed: Previous mobile health interventions after cardiac events have increased physical activity and daily step counts, though evidence specifically addressing kinesiophobia is limited.
