What this trial studies

This observational study uses information and communication technology (ICT) to deliver and monitor personalized at-home physical activity prescriptions for oncology patients. It enrolls women with breast cancer and men with prostate cancer who are eligible for adjuvant treatment and excludes those who are already actively exercising. Participants will receive digitally guided exercise plans and their adherence, physical function, and patient-reported outcomes will be tracked remotely. The study is led by the University of Naples Federico II and conducted at its Naples site.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women with breast cancer or men with prostate cancer who are about to begin adjuvant treatment and are not already regularly physically active.

Not a fit: Patients who are already highly active before enrollment or who have medical reasons preventing exercise are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could make it easier for patients to follow tailored home exercise plans that improve fitness, reduce treatment-related side effects, and enhance quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Previous randomized and observational studies have shown that structured exercise benefits cancer patients, and early evidence suggests digitally delivered home programs can improve access and adherence though results vary.
