What this trial studies
This randomized controlled trial will evaluate the effectiveness of a six-week home-based stretching program compared to usual care for patients with fibromyalgia. Participants will engage in stretching exercises designed to alleviate symptoms associated with the condition. The study aims to determine if this novel approach can improve patient outcomes and adherence to treatment. The trial will include individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia or chronic widespread pain who meet specific diagnostic criteria.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia or chronic widespread pain who meet the ACR 2016 diagnostic criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with non-controlled systemic disorders, neurological conditions affecting comprehension, or severe joint disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could provide patients with a practical and effective way to manage their fibromyalgia symptoms at home.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar home-based exercise interventions for fibromyalgia, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
