What this trial studies
Researchers will translate the OHIP-CP questionnaire into Hindi and administer it to adults with clinically confirmed periodontitis. Participants will undergo a periodontal exam including pocket probing depth and clinical attachment loss to determine stage and grade per the 2017 classification. The Hindi questionnaire will be tested for content and construct validity using appropriate statistical methods and for internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha for the whole tool and its subscales. Data will be collected at PGIDS Rohtak and analyzed to determine whether the translated instrument performs reliably in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (≥18 years) with a confirmed diagnosis of periodontitis per the 2017 World Workshop who can read and complete questionnaires independently and can attend the site.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have systemic diseases such as HIV or diabetes, bleeding disorders, require prophylactic antibiotics, had recent non-surgical periodontal therapy, or cannot read Hindi are unlikely to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, clinicians and researchers will have a validated Hindi tool to measure how periodontitis affects patients' daily lives, improving communication and outcome tracking.
How similar studies have performed: Other language translations and validations of OHIP instruments have been successfully performed, so this approach is well established.
