High-intensity training for patients with spondyloarthritis
High-intensity Exercise Based on Self-management With Digital Coaching in Patients With Spondyloarthritis: a Randomized Controlled Trial

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on patients diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis. It compares the physiological, inflammatory, and self-reported health outcomes of participants undergoing HIIT versus those receiving standard training. The research aims to enhance understanding of how HIIT can improve adherence to exercise and overall health in this patient population. By examining both short-term and long-term effects, the study seeks to provide tailored exercise recommendations for better self-management of the condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis who meet physical activity recommendations.
Not a fit: Patients with recent changes in TNF or anti-inflammatory medications, cardiovascular disease, or other comorbidities that contraindicate high-intensity training may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved health outcomes and quality of life for patients with spondyloarthritis through enhanced physical activity.
How similar studies have performed: While the effects of HIIT on inflammatory biomarkers in rheumatic diseases are not well-studied, similar approaches in other conditions have shown promising results.
